Born Again Christian

Jason slammed down the phone in his Mother and former Step-father’s house (thank God the bastard had finally died!), furious that Sarah, his one year bride, had just refused to drive the measly 200 miles to keep him company at his Step-father’s funeral, tomorrow!

“Jason”, Sarah had exclaimed, you and your family are Masters at keeping your feelings hidden. You probably had to, just to keep your sanity; but I’ll be darned if I’ll do that! As you remember, we stayed up the entire night with you pouring out your heart at just how terribly dysfunctional your family was – and your monster Step-father in particular! He was horrible, to both you and your sister; and I’m sure not “coming to honor his memory!”

With that, Jason had slammed down the phone and dropped wearily into his boyhood bed! His wife Sarah, was the absolute best thing that had ever happened to him, in his young life; and not thinking clearly, he’d thought that he’d just lost her!

Dejectedly, he turned off the bed light and pulled the covers over him, remembering how sleep was often a blessed escape from the horrors of his youth! But sleep wouldn’t come! Furious, he snapped the bed table light back on, seeking another of his tried and true “escapes”, books!

Reaching for the only reading material on the bed side table – one of those religious tracts that his Aunt had sent him while he was in Vietnam – dejectedly, he opened to somewhere in the middle and started reading: and Jesus said, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28.”

Like an electric shock to the heart, Jason thought, My GOD, that’s just exactly how I feel right now! How could anyone…..My God, He’s real! Next, Jason’s eyes drifted further on the page until he came to the words, Dear Reader, if God’s Holy Words somehow “touch you” right now; in a way that you know that He’s real – and that He understands your situation – please pray the following words as an invitation for Him to come into your life: “, “Dear God, I believe that your Son, Jesus Christ, died for my sins; and I ask Him to come into my heart right now, as my Lord and Saviour.”

My friend, I did, and then He did; and my life has never ever been the same!

Feel free to put Him to the test! Read His Word – the Bible – especially the New Testament (where you’ll hear about His Son, Jesus); and see if His words won’t “touch you” in such an unbelievably special way; that you’ll come to the realization that the Power that made you, “Knows you”, Loves you; and so much wants to be invited into your life!
